Listen to the chorus of the birds. . .Relax.   I love to sit on my little balcony each morning and drink a hot cup of coffee and watch the day unfold.  It is such a blessing to see the beauty of our world and take a few minutes each day to savor the moment.  I hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of nature and the loveliness of our world, sweet friends.  Wishing a blessed and happy week ahead.

Somewhere over the rainbow…

Image

blue birds fly.  Birds fly over the rainbow.  Why then, oh, why can’t I?

If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, why, oh, why can’t I?   I think the lyrics of this wonderful song catch the essence of childhood so well.  The feeling of endless possibilities that lie ahead for us.  I had a magical childhood and am so thankful for the innocence and joy of growing up as I did in the 1950’s and early 1960’s.

Maybe this is one reward for growing older:  the lovely memories from days gone by.  I still like to make happy memories with my grandchildren.  They are such a blessing in my life.  They keep me young for sure.  As we stroll down memory lane together, dear friends, I hope you have some happy memories, too.  Love and blessings to you!

Nesting time. . .

Image

I have been hearing the little birds singing outside my window the past few mornings. Could it be that springtime is on its way?  I sure hope so!

I put  a new bird feeder on my balcony garden today.  I have been peeking out my window from time to time to see if any of my birdie friends have discovered it.

This is the time of year when I feel like I should start “nesting”, too.  I love to “fluff up”  my little nest here in Texas with something springtime pretty.  I can’t seem to pass the garden center without picking up a new flower or two.  I hope you are feeling the promise of springtime in your part of the world (even though it may still be cold, cold winter).  Sending sunshine hugs to you!

A New Beginning for Me…

Image

Hello, dear friends, and thank you for following along with me here at “High Cotton”.  I have heard that phrase, “walking in high cotton” all of my life.  It meant prosperous, good times for folks.  I hope you are having “high cotton” times today and every day.  My daddy was one of the finest men I know and so I dedicate this journal to him.  My mother told me that daddy knew my sister, Myra, needed a coat for the winter when she was just a young girl.  Times were hard.  It was during the Great Depression.  Daddy worked all autumn digging out tree stumps from a farmer’s field so that he and momma could buy a coat for Myra.  To me, this is what true love and devotion is all about.  I hope you enjoyed your holiday of love, Valentine’s Day!  Sending love and best wishes to you!
